Shekh Faisal Abdul-Latip,
PhD
Personal Background I am a lecturer and the Head of Information Security
and Digital Forensics Laboratory (INSFORLAB) at the Faculty of Information
and Communication Technology of the Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka. I received my PhD from the University
of Wollongong in
Australia under Prof. Jennifer Seberry, Prof. Willy
Susilo and Dr. Mohammad Reza Reyhanitabar.
The title of my PhD thesis is “Algebraic and
Side-Channel Analysis of Lightweight Block Ciphers”. I also received M.Sc
in Information Security from the Information Security Group (ISG) at the Royal
Holloway, University of London in United Kingdom, and both B.Sc (Hons) in Computer Science
and Diploma in Electronic Engineering from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). I am a member of Malaysian Society for Cryptology Research.
Research Interests
My research focuses on cryptology, i.e. designing and
breaking secret codes particularly symmetric key primitives namely block
ciphers, stream ciphers and hash functions. If you are interested in doing PhD or MSc by research with me, below is the list of
possible topics within my interest: 1. Design of symmetric-key primitives (block ciphers, stream
ciphers or hash functions). 2. Cryptanalysis of cryptographic algorithms. 3. Cryptanalysis of security protocols. 4. Side-channel analysis of cryptographic algorithms. Teaching
I have taught courses on “IT and Network Security”, “Computer Programming” and “Operating Systems”.
