Professor, Faculty of Computing
Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMPSA)
This talk will discuss the opportunistic multi-tasking and multi-factorial approach for solving optimization problems related to Software Engineering using the recently developed Hiking Optimization Algorithm, called MF-HOA. More precisely, the talk focuses on solving three heterogeneous yet related optimization tasks simultaneously within the software engineering domain: team formation, test redundancy reduction, and test case prioritization. MF-HOA serves as the research vehicle to demonstrate the feasibility and usefulness of the multi-factorial approach for addressing real-world multi-task optimization problems.
Kamal Z Zamli is a Professor of Search Based Software Engineering in the Faculty of Computing, UMPSA. His main areas of research relate to Operational Research and Software Engineering.
He obtained his BSc in EE from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, USA in 1992, MSc in Software Engineering in UTM in 2000, and PhD in Software Engineering from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK in 2003.
He started his career in 2003 as a lecturer in the School of Electrical and Electronics, USM before transferring to the Faculty of Computing, UMPSA in 2012. He served as dean of the Faculty of Computing from 2016 until 2018 and was later appointed Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation at UMPSA from 2019 until 2024.
