Biography
Dr. Norashikin is a Senior Lecturer in Software Engineering Department. She received the degree of Bachelor of Information Technology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1998, Masters in Computer Science from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2003 and PhD in Information Technology in 2012 from Monash University, Australia. Her PhD thesis addresses the problem of incorporating incremental learning in artificial learning models and highlights its practical value and utility. From 1998 to 1999, Dr. Norashikin was an analyst programmer at a software company in Johor, Malaysia. From 1999 to 2001 Norashikin worked at Johor Islamic College, Malaysia as a lecturer. Norashikin started her academic career with Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka, Malaysia as a tutor in October 2001. She has been a lecturer in Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka since 2003. Dr. Norashikin has taught a variety of subjects including C++ and Java programming, database, artificial intelligence, software engineering, software development, data mining and data warehousing, database administration and also algorithm analysis and design. She is also an Oracle 9i PL/SQL Developer Associate (OCA). Dr. Norashikin's research interests include intelligence techniques especially artificial neural networks, pattern recognition, data mining and bioinformatics.
