Dr. Massila is a Senior Lecturer and Course Coordinator to the Postgraduate Coursework Masters Program in Requirements Elicitation. She teaches Software Engineering and C++ Programming in Honours and Diploma Core Subjects.

Massila's education was first Degree in Computer Science majoring in Software Engineering from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2003, then completed her MSc in Computing and Software Technology in 2006 from University of Wales Swansea. In 2011 she gained her Doctorate in University of Auckland, New Zealand under the supervision of Prof John Hosking and Prof John Grundy in the area of Requirements Engineering within 3 years. As a PhD student at University of Auckland, she felt encouraged to pursue her intellectual curiosity and push boundaries. Therefore, before her graduation days, she pursued post-doctorate study on the same year at Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne Australia for one year.

In 2003 she became a full-time lecturer in National Institute of IT (NIIT) where she taught programming courses before continue as a tutor in Kolej Universiti Teknikal Melaka. She then continues as a full-time lecture in Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) in the year of 2006 and then promoted to senior lecturer in the year of 2011. In KUTKM and UTeM, she taught a few subjects such as C++ programming, Software Engineering, Manufacturing Information Technology and Requirements Elicitation.

As for research and publication, she is a member of IEEE and Malaysia Software Engineering Group (MYSEIG). She is also a reviewer of several IEEE conference proceeding papers and Special Issue papers for Automated Software Engineering Journal. She is also active in publishing high impact and peer-reviewed papers in the Requirements Engineering area of study. Her current research is on security requirements, requirements validation mainly on consistency management, multi-lingual requirements in global software development as well as generating and validating test cases from requirements. She also interested in researching other area of studies in software engineering such as software engineering education, model - driven development and methodology and software tool.

Her research has attracted a lot of attention from college in Malaysia and overseas such as from Australia, New Zealand and USA. She is engaged with several local grants such as Fundamental and RAGs research grant from MOHE and Science Fund Research grant from MOSTI. Currently, she is engaged with international industry grant from Fulgent Corporation, USA. Qualified and experience in Requirements Engineering has sought to appoint her to supervise a few PhD and Master by research students and appointed her as a visiting researcher and speaker in Australian National University, Australia, University of Texas San Antonio, USA and Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia.
