MELAKA: A Malaysian Technical University student of Melaka (UTeM) was elected to represent the country following the 2nd ASEAN China Youth Summer Camp program in Beijing and Chengdu, China recently.
Mohamad Hafiz Jailani, 22, a three-year Bachelor of Computer Science (Software Development) student, among 30 selected students representing universities from Southeast Asia, including China, Japan and Korea.
Earlier, the UTeM Student Representative Council (MPP) had to go through an interview process organized by the Ministry of Education by involving 31 candidates from public universities throughout the country.
Muhamad Hafiz said his participation in the seven-day program was a valuable experience for himself and another representative of the country, Muhammad Ali Jusri from the University of Kelantan Malaysia (UMK).
He said various fascinating passes were passed throughout the program from the cultural, language and geographical angle of the Chinese Great Wall.
“This program teaches me about the unique culture of the people in China, as well as being taught to paint according to the people’s traditions in the country by using the equipment provided.
“We have also visited some of the world’s attractions and attractions such as China Bird’s Nest, Great Wall of China, Water Cube, Beijing Bai Gong Fang Handcraft and Art Museum, Summer Palace, Chengdu Base of Giant Panda Breeding, Kuanzai Ancient Street of Qing Dynasty and Sichuan Opera Performance, “he said in a statement released by UTeM today.
He said the delegation participants also had the opportunity to meet Chengdu Mayor Luo Qiang and attend a dinner with the leader.
